In addition to my musical output, I have been involved in many other areas in the field of art, especially when it has been closely connected to technology.
I have composed film scores, music for theatre and dance performances, and done sound design and music for art installations whether I have created them myself or collaborated with other artists.
I have also been involved in think-tanks discussing challenges for growth in the digital domain, held talks about technology and art, and been a guest lecturer in several institutions and forums.
Writing has been central to many of my projects across all disciplines, and I have published some text alongside the projects they have been connected to.
I also quite like taking photographs, and combine my visual works with storytelling.
PYRAMIDS ON THE MOON – A MULTI-DIMENSIONAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY
This is a three-part “fictional autobiography” that was written as part of my artistic research project “The Search for Resonance”, which was carried out between 2019-2021 at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway.
Even though I initially set out to “explore correspondences between frequency and geometry”, I soon fell into several rabbit holes that made me question my personal motivation for expressing myself through sound and music.
Wanting to get to the core of why I’ve always had this urge to manipulate soundwaves into something that could make an impact on other people, and even shake up physical matter by sheer volume and force, I ended up asking “who” instead of “why”, and thus started playing around with my own artistic identity through writing alternative timelines of my own life’s story.
This role-playing made me get into different characters – all based on different aspects of who I believed myself to be, and I started making music from all three vantage points which turned into the three “artists” WAVE∞FORM, NAEON TEARDROPS and MENTAL OVERDRIVE.
When the research project ended, I came out on the other side as a doctor on one side, and more of a patient on the other, as I was now stuck with living and creating from three parallel timelines simultaneously – the different “artist careers” had by now all taken on a life on their own both through recording and performing.
The musical results are all available to the public, but the backstory I used as a creative method was only available in parts on the project website and through my Patreon page for those who wanted to dive in, but I have now collected and published all the text as an eBook for whoever might be interested:
‘Pyramids On The Moon’ – A multi-dimensional autobiography (eBook)
For those more interested in the academic reflections around the project, a text from my doctoral disputation can be found here:

EARTHBOUND – SURFING THE APOCALYPSE
Back in 2008 I relocated from Oslo to my hometown of Tromsø, after 20 years of absence from my roots. The change of location also marked a change in my creative desires, and even though I’ve always liked writing and telling stories, this had up to that point only showed up in short texts on sporadic vinyl releases or concepts behind whatever impulsive work I’d presented through my career.
The decade leading up to the late noughties also had me fascinated by the well of conspiracy theories that flooded the internet at the time. It felt like a lot of people who were not used to apply their creative powers to anything in particular suddenly had a way to express themselves through storytelling based on connecting dots of information, and “play” with reality and history in an unprecedented way.
I found this so interesting that I started writing my own tale in the same manner, using historic events to make up a different angle of perception on everything from religion and geopolitics to music, and created the main character “Vix”, who was a recluse music blogger with one single, mysterious friend called, well, “Mr. Friend”.
I then sent Vix on a mental journey that eventually connected him to a disclosed race into the Arctic by two teams of agent-like types searching for the key to the past.
I posted the story chapter by chapter on the project website, but also made sure there were traces online that somehow could “prove” the existence of Vix and other characters from the story. This made me end up with having to admin a handful of Facebook and Twitter accounts, in addition to having to write Vix’ music blog, and also make all the music he posted under a tenfold of fictional artist names. I also built several installation art pieces that later were exhibited at events connected to the project (see links below).
The story is available as an eBook, and the soundtrack was later released as a compilation CD:
‘Earthbound – Surfing the Apocalypse’ (eBook)
Earthbound – A virtual soundtrack (CD+download)
